B i o g r a p h y

BiLi Clarke has extensive experience as a performer and teacher at a national and international level. Colleagues, critics and audiences all praise her technical dexterity, thoughtful insights and beautiful sound.  She has been praised as the Chinese Zuckerman as she is just as comfortable performing on the violin and viola. She completed her Bachelor Degree in Performance at the Guangzhou Conservatory, China, as well as intensive extracurricular studies in solo performing and orchestral studies with Professor Xi-Di Shen at the Shanghai Conservatory, China. She completed her Masters in Music Performance (violin) with a full scholarship under the renowned string pedagogue Dr David Johnston, (a graduate from the Juilliard School in America and a pupil of Ivan Galamian and Jascha Heifetz) at Sydney Conservatorium . She also completed L.Mus.A (viola) and L.Mus.A (violin) for Australian Music Examination Board. BiLi has won numerous competitions and awards, most notably, first place in the Seventh Arts Festival of China National Arts/Music Competition; twice first place in the National Violin competition of China and was also awarded the ‘International Excellent Tutor” in the Asian International Young Performer Art Competition, Hong Kong. Currently, She is a staff member at the Australian International Conservatorium.

 

Throughout her career, she has held many prominent positions including Principal Viola of the Guangzhou Chamber Orchestra, Guest Associate Principal Violin of the Foshan Philharmonic Orchestra and Guest Associate Principal Violin of the Xining Symphony Orchestra, Principal Viola of the Guangzhou Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Soloist of Youth Symphony Orchestra and Principal and Solo viola of the Pearl River Symphony Orchestra, China. Whilst in Australia, she has performed as Concertmaster for a number of orchestras as well as Principal Viola for the Sydney Sinfonietta at the Sydney Opera House.  BiLi ‘s debut has been successfully held at Carnegie Hall in America in 2012. She performs on an exceptionally fine violin by Aegidius Klotz, 1732
